Altzer as postmaster; also at Henderson's Depot, Southampton county, Va., on the route from Portsmouth to Weldon, with W.E. Some of our oldest neighbors think it unusual. Annoying Mistake. - A very annoying mistake occurred in Suffolk on Saturday night last in one of the churches during service, by which a minister of the Baptist Church came near being conveyed to prison, charged with being a burglar. Name not given. He is a Yankee; was on a visit to a friend; saw flowers, &c., at Mr. Moore's, and stopped to look at them too hard, as a northerner would be likely to do, there being none at home so early. Mr. Moore, remembering last year's burglars, got out a warrant, which was served, but the host finally convinced the officer he had got on the wrong track. So says the Portsmouth "Times" in a long article. [...] Reuben Jones is appointed postmaster at Churchland, Norfolk county, vice Thomas E. Trotman, resigned. The site of the post-office at Brentsville, Prince William county, Va., is changed to the centre of the village, and A.W. Sinclair is appointed postmaster vice Isaac Herrick, superseded by the change of site. This change is made upon the petition of a number of citizens sent to the Department in December last and forwarded by Hon. B.B. Douglas. The Department sent Special-Agent Wilson to examine the matter, and he reported in favor of the change which is now made. Brentsville is the county-seat of Prince William county. The name of the post-office at Nottoway Mills. Southampton county, Va., is changed to Delawares. Adams is appointed postmaster at Shockoe Church, Pittsylvania county, Va., vice Thomas J. Adams, resigned. John Wurts is appointed postmaster at Maywood, Fayette county, W.Va., vice John Sharpe, resigned.
