THE STORM IN AND AROUND NORFOLK. No Very Serious Damage - Religious Meeting - Democrats to Organize - Personals and Briefs. [Correspondence of the Richmond Dispatch.] NORFOLK, August 22, 1888. A heavy gale of wind commenced blowing about 7 o'clock last night and continued until daybreak, doing considerable damage to loose fencing and light framework, awnings, signs, &c. No serious damage is reported, however. It was the most severe blow of the summer season, and had the effect of diminishing the fish supply in the market to-day, as the fish along the coast usually take to deep water when a blow occurs of any considerable strength. [...] The survivors of Pickett's division in Southampton, Isle of Wight, and Nansemond counties have organized a Confederate Veterans' Association, of which W.H. Daughtrey, of Franklin, has been elected president.
