Although still hiccoughing, for the eighth successive day, J.A. Stephenson, aged 65, was reported as being in a generally improved condition today at Lakeview hospital. The coughing has continued unabated since Tuesday of last week. Mr. Stephenson developed influenza two weeks ago, and last Tuesday commenced hiccoughing. The usual remedies failing to relieve him, the family resorted to every cough relief known to them. He hiccoughed for a week and, realizing that the condition had become critical was brought to Lakeview for treatment Monday afternoon. The hospital staff have administered nerve sedatives to relieve him as much as possible and are endeavoring to abate the force of the cough. A man in Ohio was relieved of hiccoughs after 15 days of continuous hiccoughing. ****************************************************************************** MAN RECOVERS FROM HICCOUGHS J. A. Nerve sedatives were administered and he improved from day to day. National interest was aroused by the story of a citizen of Ohio who suffered for 15 days with the same malady. Hundreds of people all over the country sent in their remedies for the hiccoughs, ranging from a glass of champagne every hour to a left hook to the jaw.
