Ira D. Hudgins. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Jack Brown, Jack Gouse, Tommy Young, Bobby Atkinson, John McGee, and R.C. Branch. Mrs. Appleby died Sunday in Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Franklin, she was the wife of Leary Spencer Appleby. She was a lifetime member of Franklin Baptist Church. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Linda A. Williams of Chesapeake; a son, Andrew Spencer Appleby, and a sister, Mrs. Shirley Rose Smith, both of Richmond; and two granddaughters.
