She was a native of Southampton County and the daughter of the late Ashton Eugene and Pattie Vann Applewhite. She was a member of the Courtland Baptist Church, it's Story Bible Class and WMU. Surving are two sisters, Mable A. Edwards of Conway, N.C., Letha A. Larson of Fayetteville, Pa.; three brothers, Emmette M. Applewhite and Lloyd Allen Applewhite, both of Courtland, and Ashton Eugene Applewhite, Jr. of Hampton; several nieces and nephews. The graveside funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland by the Rev. Edmund Ellis. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin has charge of arrangements. The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Allen Applewhite, Applewhite Acres, Courtland, Va.
