She was a member of Courtland Methodist Church and the Woman’s Missionary Society. She is survived by four daughter, Miss Laura L. Applewhite of Courtland, Mrs. Ethel A. Preston of Suffolk, Mrs. Mabel A. Edwards of Conway, N.C., and Mrs. Letha A. Larson of Dallas, Pa.; three sons, Emmett M., Ashton E., Jr. and Lloyd A. Applewhite, all of Courtland; two sisters, Mrs. J.E. Brittle of Conway, N.C. and Mrs. G.C. Whitehead of Handsom; and two brothers, B.H. Vann of Murfreesboro, N.C., and Clyde Vann of Conway, N.C. A funeral service was held at 3:30 p.m. Monday at W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home, Franklin, with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland. Pallbearers were Thomas Vaughan, Roland Vaughan Lewis Babb, Dennie Vann, Delbert Whitehead, Arthur Whitehead, Claude Applewhite and Emmett Vaughan. Martha Sarah "Pattie" (VANN; Mrs. Ashton E.)
