All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ HUGH WADE AVENT Hugh Wade Avent, 67, a life-long resident of the Capron community*, died at the residence on Friday morning, May 6, after a long illness. Mr. Avent was the son of the late James William and Rosa Wade Avent of Southampton County, and the husband of Mrs. Pattie Dunn Avent, who survives him. He operated a wheelwright business in Capron for many years and was a member of the Capron Methodist Church. Besides his wife he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Elsie Underwood and Mrs. Herbert Francis of Capron and Mrs. Robert Butler of Franklin; one son, James A. Avent of Buffalo, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Betty Stark of Capron and Mrs. T.H. Wooton of Amelia; one brother, D.H. Avent of Richmond; and several nephews and nieces. Funeral services were held for Mr. Avent at the residence in Capron on Saturday afternoon at four o’clock by Rev. A.W. Linthicum, assisted by Rev. R.H. Marks of Capron and Rev. E.N. Hassell of Franklin. Burial was in the Capron cemetery. Active pallbearers were Dr. J.J. Grizzard, Ashley Pope, David Pope, Will Story, Charlie Pope, J.E. Fox, Moncure Francis and V.S. Pittman. Honorary pallbearers were members of his Sunday school class and friends of the family.
