All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ PATTIE JANE DUNN AVENT Funeral services for Mrs. Pattie Dunn Avent, 73, who died Monday, June 24, in a Newport News hospital after a long illness, were conducted Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the Capron Methodist Church by the pastor, Rev. David Willis, assisted by Rev. J.R. Douglas, pastor of High Street Methodist Church, Franklin. Mrs. Avent was the widow of Hugh W. Avent. She was a native of Sussex County and was a resident of Capron for many years. She was a member of the Capron Methodist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. H.L. Jarratt, Sr., of Capron, Mrs. W.R. Butler of Franklin and Mrs. H.M. Francis of Boykins; one son, James Avent of Buffalo; eight grandchildren: one great-grandchild; a brother, Joe Dunn of Yale; and several nieces and nephews. Burial was in the Capron Cemetery. Active pallbearers were P.A. Pope, Moncure Francis, Ira H. Barham, H.L. Bain, Sr., Paul Kirkland, Roland Vaughan, Ben Gillette and R.L. Banty. Pattie Jane (DUNN; Mrs. Hugh W.)
