Adams of this town died at Raiford Hospital this (Friday) morning about 4:30 o’clock after an illness of two weeks, although he had been in ill health for some months. Mr. Adams came to Franklin from Chatham, Va., about 12 years ago and had been with the Lytton Manufacturing Co. as a machinist during his residence in Franklin. He was a member of the Men’s Bible Class of the M.E. Sunday school and of Franklin Lodge No. 51, Knight of Pythias. He is survived by his wife and four children. Funeral arrangements had not been completed this morning. ****************************************************************************** WALTER LESLIE ADAMS Walter Leslie Adams, whose death occurred at Raiford Hospital last Friday morning after a brief illness, was buried here Saturday afternoon, with services conducted by Rev. Dr. Geo. H. Spooner, assisted by Rev. Jos. W. Fix and Dr. J.L. Hodges of New Bern, N.C. Mr. Adams, who was 43 years of age, was a native of Danville, Virginia, and had been living in Franklin for the last 14 years, being employed by the Lytton Manufacturing Corporation. He had quite a number of friends here by whom he was highly esteemed, and took an active interest in the Men’s Bible Class of the High Street Methodist Church and in Franklin Lodge No. 51, Knights of Pythias, the rites of that fraternal order being held at the graveside. Mr. Adams was married 16 years ago to Miss Clara L. Adams of Pittsylvania County, who survives him, with four sons, Lawrence, Bruce, Jack, and Leslie. He also has a brother, E.T. Adams of Phoebus, Va. Relatives who were here for the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Powell of New Bern, N.C., G.W. Adams of Askin, N.C., Mr. and Mrs. L.K. Whitford, Mrs. T.G. Campbell, Miss Maggie Campbell and E.J. Campbell of Vanceboro, N.C. and E.T. Adams of Phoebus. The active pallbearers were: George Earnest, W.F. Jones, W.F. Cooper, D.R. Butler, J. Linwood Edwards, Lloyd A. Darden, Geo. H. Beale and Frank Bunch.
