DIES WEDNESDAY Robert Braxton Allport, Sr., 79, died in a Franklin hospital early Wednesday after a brief illness. He was a son of Henry Marion and Mrs. Edna Ellen Shuman Allport of Richmond. Mr. Allport was native of Richmond, where for years he was connected with Allport Construction Co., builder of roads and bridges. Since retirement in 1952 from M.A. Hanna Co., of Philadelphia, he had lived in Franklin. He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church, where he served a term as chairman of the board of deacons and was assistant teacher of the Bruner Bible class. During his residence in Richmond, he was teacher many years of the Agoga Bible Class of Grace Baptist Church. He was a Mason and Shriner of the Richmond lodge and was active in Richmond chapter of V.M.I. Alumni Association. At the time of his death, he was a member of Franklin Rotary Club. He formerly was married to Mary Lee Durrette of Standardsville, Va., who died in 1939. Survivors of this marriage are a son, Robert B. Allport, Jr., of Franklin; a daughter, Mrs. L.J. Foley, Jr. of Warrenton; and five grandchildren. In 1947 he married Virginia Parker Johnson of Franklin, who also survives. A funeral service was conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. in Franklin Baptist Church by his pastor, the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins. Burial was in Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, at 4:30 p.m. The family requested that flowers be omitted. Pallbearers were William H. Cutchin, Earl McGowen, Marion Whitfield, Herbert Edwards, Floyd Briggs, Felton Johnson, Robert C. Redd, and John M.
