Babb of Sedley and the late Lelia Raiford Babb, died in an Alexandria hospital on Friday, November 16, after an illness of several months. A veteran of World War II, he was born near Ivor on November 11, 1905. For several years he had been an employee of the Federal General Service Administration in Washington, D.C. Besides his father, the deceased is survived by two sisters, Misses Agnes L. and Anna M. Babb of Sedley; and one brother, Caswell Jay Babb, also of Sedley. A funeral services for Mr. Babb was conducted on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Wheatley Funeral Home, Alexandria, by Rev. Cliff R. Johnson, pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church. The remains were brought to the funeral home of W.J.M. Holland & Sons, Franklin, and on Sunday were taken to Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley, for interment at 3:30 p.m. the service was conducted by Rev. L.B. Allen, Jr, pastor of Black Creek Baptist Church. Pallbearers were Claude F. McFarland and Charles Robbins of Alexandria; Herman Barnes, Edward Neave, Joseph Raiford and Wilroy Stephenson of Ivor; and William S. Urquhart of Petersburg and Cecil Edwards of Sedley.
