All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ MARY LOUISE BABB Miss Mary Louise Babb, 73, of Sedley, a pioneer welfare worker in this county, died in Raiford Memorial Hospital on Tuesday afternoon, January 29, after an illness of many weeks. Miss Babb was the daughter of the late Enoch L. and Judith Babb of Southampton. She was educated at Corinth Academy, West Town Boarding School of Philadelphia, the University of Virginia and the University of North Carolina. She was a member of the Black Creek meeting of the Society of Friends, serving as treasurer of the meeting as long as her health permitted. She was a member also of the Sedley Woman’s Club and the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union. Surviving are two brothers, John E. Babb of Sedley and Eugene J. Babb of Franklin; and two sisters, Mrs. John A. Bailey of Sedley and Mrs. Martha Babb Supplee of Philadelphia, Pa. Last rites were conducted at the grave in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley, on Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock by James A. Coney. The active pallbearers were John A. Bailey, Jr., Edwin Babb, Jay Babb, L.H. Babb, John C. Bradshaw, Hurley Joyner, Burton McLemore, Walter Neave, William Neave and N.W. Wills.
