J. Milton Babb

  IVOR - J. Milton Babb, 91, died Friday, Sept. 8, in Riverside Convalescent 
Center. 

  Mr. Babb was a native of Sussex County.  He was a member of Ivor Baptist 
Church and a retired farmer.  He was the father of the late Mildred B. Atkins. 

  Survivors include his wife, Cora Belle Pittman Babb of Ivor; one daughter, 
Frances B. Harris of Smithfield; four sons, James W. Brown of Smithfield, R.W. 
Simms and A.J. Rollison both of Franklin, and L.T. Simms of Norfolk; 15 
grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. 

  A funeral was held Sunday, Sept. 10 at 3 p.m. in Purviance Funeral Home of 
Wakefield.  Burial was at Mill Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery of Ivor by the 
Rev. Larry Cribb and Rev. Douglas M. Cotter.

Milton 1m. Mary S. (JOYNER; wid/o Grover Cleveland) SIMMS 18 Nov 1920. 
   Southampton Co. MB18:157 gives b. Southampton Co.  She was buried 
   18 Apr 1940, at the home place, near Sedley - site not known (Nov 2020) 
   to the Southampton County Historical Society {SCHS} Cemetery Project. 

Milton's WW-II draft card gives b. Sussex; res. Corinth, Southampton Co.; 
   permanent contact: [step-son] Lee Thomas SIMMS. 

He 2m. widow Cora Belle (PITTMAN) BROWN 18 Aug 1949 in Waverly. (So.Co. #148). 
   Her parents are also buried in Mill Swamp Bapt.Ch. Cem.
