Ronald Wayne Bass was conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Herman Smith of Courtland Baptist Church, assisted by the Rev. Edwin M. Thornton of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Burial with full military honors was in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland. Pallbearers, all Spec. 4's were John M. Stefula, Carroll W. King, Dean B. McKibbin, Robert Miller, Steven Lutowsky and John J. Wichic. Escort was Sgt. Ollie Tidwell. Bass, 19, was killed March 14 in South Vietnam. He was a son of Roy Bass of Courtland and Mrs. Mabel Estes Staples of Franklin. He was a member of Courtland Baptist Church. Besides his parents surviving are a sister, Miss Candace Ann Bass of Franklin; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Henry Estes of South Boston; a step- father, Luther B. Staples of Franklin; one step-sister, Sharon Staples; two step-brothers, Burnie Staples and Logan Staples of Middleton, R.I. Cpl. Ronald Wayne BASS, Army infantryman, KIA 14 Mar 1967, South Vietnam, age 19, interred in Riverside Cemetery (Section I, Plot 52A*), Courtland, "The Tidewater News" (Franklin, VA), Mar. 30, 1967, p. 6 *Monument gives rank as corporal.
