VIRGINIA "JENNIE" BARHAM LAINE BASS

   COURTLAND - A funeral service for Jennie Laine Bass, 67, was held Friday 
at 11 a.m. in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland.

   Mrs. Bass died Tuesday in a hospital.

   A native of Dendron, she was the widow of George Q. Bass.

   She was a member of Courtland Baptist Church and was a retired employee of 
Southampton County.

   Survivors include two daughters, Huntley B. Friend of Chapham and Betty B. 
Metzger of Courtland; a brother, Ashton Laine of Charlotte, N.C.; and two 
grandchildren.
