BAXTER Louis Anthony Baxter, 41, power plant superintendent at the Southampton Penal Farm, died of a heart attack on Thursday afternoon, May 30 at his residence in Drewryville. Mr. Baxter was a native of Jacksonville, Fla., and had retired from the Navy two years ago. Prior to moving to Drewryville, in 1955 he had lived in North Bayside, Norfolk. He was a member of the Norfolk chapter of the Naval Fleet Reserve. The deceased was the husband of Mrs. Ellen Kunila Baxter of Drewryville, and a son of Charles M. and Mrs. Mary Baxter of Jacksonville, Fla. Besides his wife and parents he is survived by two sons, Louis A. Baxter, Jr., USN and Charles David Baxter of Drewryville; a daughter, Miss Pamela Ellen Baxter, also of Drewryville; three brothers, John and Buddy Baxter of Jacksonville, Fla., and Vincent Baxter of Miami, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Marie James of Jacksonville, Fla. and Mrs. Gertrude Wilkerson of Miami; and a number of nieces and nephews. The body was taken to the Purviance Funeral Home in Boykins and thence to Arlington National Cemetery, where funeral services with full military honors were conducted on Tuesday morning, June 4, at 9:30 o'clock.
