A son of Jim and Pattie Gardner Baugham of Bertie County, N.C., he was a member of Newsoms Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Annie Worrell Baugham; three daughters, Mrs. Jim Pulley of Frederalsburg, Md., Mrs. Nettie Pulley of Newsoms and Mrs. Sallie B. Johnson of Severn, N.C.; three sons, William J. Baugham of Courtland and Joseph I. Baugham and George A. Baugham of Newsoms; three brothers, Jude Baugham of Aulander, N.C. and George Baugham and Cregg Baugham of Ahoskie, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Luther Knight of Aulander and Mrs. Norman Hall of Ahoskie; 27 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. E. Mallary Binns of Newsoms Baptist Church and Rev. L.F. Smith of Moyock, N.C. Burial was in the family cemetery near here. Pallbearers were E. Beale Carter, J.Q. Worrell, David T. Drake, Benjamin Porter, John M. Britt, Buck Blowe, Ralph Porter and Fred Worrell. James Arthur BAUGHAM, farmer, Bertie Co., NC native, d. 17 Apr 1960, at home, near Newsoms, age 83, interred in the family cemetery*, near Newsoms, 19 Apr 1960, "The Tidewater News" (Franklin, VA), Apr. 21, 1960, Sect. II, p. 7 *location not yet (Jul 2016) known to the Southampton County Historical Society {SCHS} Cemetery Project His Va. D.Cert. #12167 gives buried "Family Cemetery, Southampton." His first wife "Emmie" Emily Parthenia (GRAY) BAUGHAM died 9 May 1950 and was buried at the "Home place, near Newsoms" (Va. D.Cert. #12487).
