WILLIAM H. BOYKIN

   William H. Boykin, 73, a retired farmer of the Berlin community, died 
Tuesday morning at the home of Mrs. Bessie Hines following a short illness. 
He was the son of the late John W.* and Martha Spivey Boykin, of this county. 
Surviving are two nieces, Mrs. Grace Cornwell of Berlin and Mrs. Chesley 
Burton of Suffolk; four nephews, Robert Hines of Dendron, Mansfield Hines of 
Danville, Clarence Hines of Norfolk and Victor Hines of Huntington, W.Va.

   Services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the grave in the 
family plot near Berlin by his pastor, the Rev. Geo. Kissinger, III of Ivor. 
Pallbearers were Herman Wade, Bagby Cornwell, Herbert Kitchen, Marion Raiford, 
Elmo Hines, J.P. Raiford, William Ward and Roy Cornwell.

That site does not well match the "family plot near Berlin" described above, 
   nor "Home near Sedley" cited in his Death Certificate, #8342.

The 1930 Census (Berlin & Ivor Magisterial Dist. (e.d. 88-2), So.Co.) gives: 
William H. Boykins, MW 60, Single, no occ., Owns home ($1000), dwl/fam #128  
   Bulls path from Millfield Ch.-Manry Rd.; sheet 7A #6 
   {Quincy BULLS, same path, bd. Millfield Rd. (MV-I-12)} 

William's age varies in the records - 1870 Census, age 1; 
   1900 Census, age 31, b. Apr 1869; 1930 Census, age 60; 
   D.Cert., 72.11.7, b. 19 Apr 1867 {actually gives typo "April I9,I967"}. 

His father's middle initial should be R, not W.  {Error repeated on D.Cert.}
