She was a native of Southampton Co. and the daughter of James Huston Barnes Sr. and Mrs. Maggie Holland Barnes. She was a member of the United Congregational Christian Church of Portsmouth and its Fidelity Sunday School Class. She was a member of Esther Chapter No. 37, O.E.S. She is survived by one son, Robert L. Baker of Richmond; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter. Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the United Congregational Christian Church by the Rev. Joseph Talley, with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk. Body will be taken from R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home to the church at 1 p.m. Wednesday. The family will be at the residence, 2305 Airline Blvd., Portsmouth.
