Mr. Baker was a native of Maryland who had made his home in this county for a number of years and was a member of the Board of Supervisors for Capron District for two terms. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Minnie Russell Baker; six daughters, Mrs. Frank Birdsall of Sutherland, Mrs. E.F. White of Petersburg, Mrs. Howard Moore of Emporia, Misses Mary Sue, Florence and Augusta Baker of Capron; four sons, Otis F. Baker, of Portsmouth, William P. Baker of Suffolk, Irving and Roland Baker of Capron; and by one aunt, Mrs. Thomas Farlow of Pittsville, Md. Funeral services were held from the residence in Capron Sunday afternoon with Rev. R.H. Marks officiating, assisted by Rev. E.C. Dean, pastor of West End Baptist Church, Suffolk. Active pallbearers were his four sons and two nephews, Leland Riddick, and Hazlett Rountree, Peyton Smith and Dashland Barham. The body was taken to Suffolk for interment in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
