WILLIAM PARLEY BAKER

   Franklin - Funeral services for William Parley Baker, 85, were held in the 
Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins.  Burial was in the Cedar Hill 
Cemetery, Suffolk.

   Baker died Friday in Southampton Memorial Hospital.

   He was a native of Southampton County and a former resident of Suffolk.  He 
was the husband of the late Mrs. Beatrice Horton Baker and a member of 
Franklin Baptist Church.

   He was a retired, 40-year agent with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.

   Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mary Ann Jakeman of Franklin and Mrs. 
Rozelle Harrell of Waynesville, N.C.; five sisters, Miss Mary Sue Baker, Miss 
Florence Baker and Miss Augusta Baker of Capron, Mrs. Grace Moore of Emporia 
and Mrs. Eunice Birdsall of Afton, Va.; two brothers, Roland Baker and Irving 
Baker of Capron; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

   Memorial donations may be made to the Franklin Baptist Church of Franklin 
Rescue Squad.
