All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ AECIOUS ATKINS BOOTHE Aecious Atkins Boothe, 47, son of the late John and Mary Doyle Boothe, was born at the old homestead near Dory on February 24, 1904, and died December 27, 1951, with a heart attack while in route to the hospital at the close of the day's work in Franklin, where he had been an employee of S.W. Rawls, Inc., for the past eight years. He was married to Miss Eva Newton of the county on January 19, 1929, and they made their home near Courtland until on February 3, 1930, they moved to Sedley, where they have been active members of Grace Memorial Church and in the affairs beneficial to the village, never happier than when rendering service to others. He was a member of Camp NO. 151 of the Woodmen of the World. In addition to his wife he is survived by three brothers, Clifton H. Boothe of Plymouth and John C. Boothe and Claude E. Boothe of Courtland; a niece, Miss Dolores Boothe of Portsmouth; and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at Grace Memorial Methodist Church on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by the pastor, Rev. O.L. Gilliam, assisted by James A. Coney of the Friends Meeting. Members of the choirs of the village church sang "Abide With Me," and Mr. Coney used as a solo "Sunrise Tomorrow." Active Pallbearers were J.U. Kitchen, R..B. Simmons, John Galloway, W.T. Inge, H.M. Johnson, H.S. Taylor, Matthew Turner and S.W. Rawls, Jr., all employees of S.W. Rawls, Inc. The honorary pallbearers were employees of S.W. Rawls, Inc. and friends of the family. The unusually large attendance at the funeral and the numerous expressions of tribute in flowers attested the high esteem in which the deceased was held by his many friends and acquaintances. Interment was made in the family plot in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins.
