CLARENCE LEE BEATTY

   Boykins - A funeral service for Clarence Lee Beatty was conducted at 2 p.m. 
Wednesday in McDowell Funeral Home, Boykins, by the Rev. Ben B. Ussery. Burial 
with military honors was in Beechwood Cemetery.

   Pallbearers were Edward Drummond, Cecil Canada, Ronald Coker, George Smith, 
Lysle Chase and Willie Brewer.

   Beatty, 55, a former resident of Southampton County, died Sunday in Veterans 
Hospital, Hampton.

   A native of Clinton, N.C., he was the husband of Mrs. Evelyn Smith Beatty and 
the son of William Franklin and Mrs. Margaret Miller Beatty.

   A veteran of World War II, he was a former employee of Newport News 
Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Corp.

   Surviving besides his wife are two sisters, Mrs. Edward Drummond, Boykins and 
Mrs. Harry Williams, Emporia; three brothers, Alan Beatty and Ernest Beatty, 
Skippers and McNair Beatty, Roanoke Rapids, N.C.
