Ben B. Ussery. Burial with military honors was in Beechwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Edward Drummond, Cecil Canada, Ronald Coker, George Smith, Lysle Chase and Willie Brewer. Beatty, 55, a former resident of Southampton County, died Sunday in Veterans Hospital, Hampton. A native of Clinton, N.C., he was the husband of Mrs. Evelyn Smith Beatty and the son of William Franklin and Mrs. Margaret Miller Beatty. A veteran of World War II, he was a former employee of Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Corp. Surviving besides his wife are two sisters, Mrs. Edward Drummond, Boykins and Mrs. Harry Williams, Emporia; three brothers, Alan Beatty and Ernest Beatty, Skippers and McNair Beatty, Roanoke Rapids, N.C.
