All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ NANCY ANETTA VELVIN BITTLE Mrs. Nettie Velvin Bittle died last Tuesday in her 87th year in the home of her niece, Mrs. Nannie Hall, of this community. She lived with her granddaughter, Mrs. W.R. Joyner, most of the time and had been away only a few weeks when she died. She was a member of old Peete’s church now the Drewryville M.E. Church. On account of defective sight she was confined to her home most of the time and was a woman of exceptional Christian character. She leaves four grandchildren to mourn their loss besides a number of relatives and friends. Her grandchildren are: Mrs. W.R. Joyner of Drewryville; Richard Bittle of Petersburg; Allen Bittle, U.S.N., Newport, R.I., and Robert Bittle, U.S.A. Camp Meade, Maryland. She was buried at the old Beale burying ground Wednesday afternoon, R.A. Pope being in charge of the services in the absence of her Pastor. Many relatives and friends were present. Grizzard is Drewryville. (source: Va. D.Cert. #25747). Further, her niece "Nannie" Nancy Elizabeth (BEALE) HALL appears in the 1930 Census on the Drewryville-Joyner Rd., Drewryville Dist. (e.d. 12). Her niece "Nannie" Nancy Elizabeth (BEALE) HALL is buried in a HALL family cemetery, Rivers Mill Rd. D.Cert. #13357). The burial & undertaker section is left blank, and the site is not known to the SCHS Cemetery Project (Jul 2016).
