Butler was conducted Wednesday at 4 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert D. Fridley of High Street Methodist Church. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were J.F. Briggs, Dr. Darden W. Jones, Robert Raiford, Mathew Turner, J.B. Johnson, Elmo Eason, William Duck and Dr. Irvin McNeely. Butler, 68, a native of Gates County, N.C. and resident of Franklin 29 years, died early Monday in his home at 603 Norfleet St. after a long illness. He was the husband of Mrs. Nettie Russell Butler and a son of Ryland Elisha and Mrs. Florence Harrett Butler. He was a member of High Street Methodist Church, Holly Camp 18 of Woodmen of the World, Franklin Masonic Lodge 151 and Sunbeam Hunting Club. Besides his widow, surviving are a son Harry C. Butler, Jr. and two daughters, Mrs. Mildred B. Mason and Mrs. Frances B. Thomas, all of Franklin; a brother, Willie G. Butler of Suffolk, two sisters, Mrs. Martha H. Johnson of Norfolk and Mrs. Gretchen L. Kee of Fort Mills, S.C., seven grandchildren; and a great grandchild.
