MATTIE AVENT BUTLER

Mrs. Mattie Avent Butler, age 66, of Route 1, Courtland, died August 27, 1978, 
in a Norfolk Hospital.  She was the wife of William Robert Butler, a native of 
Yale, Sussex County; a member of the High Street United Methodist Church; 
Southampton Temple No. 15, Pythian Sisters; Daughters of the Confederacy; and 
State Chapter of American Cancer Society.  Besides her husband, she is 
survived by one son, Bobby Butler of Franklin; two sisters, Mrs. Doris Francis 
of Boykins and Mrs. Elsie Jarrett of Capron; one brother, James Avent of 
Buffalo, N.Y.;  two grandchildren.  A funeral will be held Tuesday, at 2:30 
P.M. at the High Street United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Wade Munford and 
Rev. R.E. Brittle.  Interment Capron Cemetery with Pythian Rites at the 
graveside.  Wright Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
