Holland and Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins and Rev. Robert D. Fridley. Burial was in Southampton Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Gilbert Porter, Andrew Drake, Marvin Worrell, Jr., Carson Whitley Jr., Jerry Whitley, Lloyd Britt and Marvin Worrell. A native of Como, N.C., she was the wife of Wallace Council Butler and a daughter of the late James Everett and Mrs. Annie Laura Edwards Whitley. She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church. Besides her husband, surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Hare of Tyner, N.C. and Mrs. Bruce K. Griggs of Suffolk; a son Wallace Everett Butler, and two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Story and Mrs. Marvin Porter, all of Franklin; five brothers, Joe E. Whitley and Frank L. Whitley of Franklin, Robert H. Whitley of Portsmouth, George Whitley of Newsoms, and the Jim Whitley of Como; three half sisters, Mrs. W.M. Worrell, Como, N.C.; Mrs. Leo Britt*, Zuni and Mrs. E.L.
