All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ROXANNA FRANCES JOYNER BUTLER Roxanna Frances Joyner Butler, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jeremiah Joyner was born in the Black Creek community May 9, 1857, and died at her home in Sedley May 26, 1927, after an illness of a few days. In 1874 she was united in marriage to Jethro Butler, who with two children, J.E. Butler and Mrs. A.T. Rollings, and four grandchildren, survive her. She was a faithful, devoted wife and mother and many beyond her own family circle have lost an esteemed friend, her modest and unassuming piety, her dependable loyalty endeared her to all who knew her. She loved the old true things of life, the plain and simple things of nature and of God. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Nathan Pickett by the graveside on Friday afternoon and amid sorrowing friends and relations, her body was laid to rest in Rosemont Cemetery, the mound being covered with many lovely flowers. Williams, J.W. Turner, R.L. Johnson, W.S. Urquhart, C.B. Owen, A.L. Wills,, H.H. Chappel, J.H. Joyner, J.C. Williams and Dr. T.F. Jarratt.
