Holland & Sons Funeral Home, Franklin, Tuesday at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Robert E. Abbott of Barnes Methodist Chruch. Burial was in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. Pallbearers were Ashley Darden, Hugh Barrett Jr., Carl Thorpe, Martin Cobb, Julian Carter, Thomas Darden, Marshall Vick and Ralph Barrett. Butler, 52, a farmer, died Sunday evening on the way to a hospital after a heart attack. A native of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., he was the husband of Mrs. Audree Marie Smith Butler and a son of Mrs. Viola Holland Jernigan and the late Thomas Walter Butler of Nansemond County. He was a member of Barnes Methodist Church, Newsoms Rotary Club, and a director of the Farm Bureau Association. Besides his widow and mother, surviving are four sons, Thomas J. Butler Jr. of Roanoke Rapids, Tony Marshall Butler of Franklin, John Walter Butler and Danny J. Butler of Newsoms; eight brothers William A. Butler, Cola M. Butler, Wilbur N. Butler, Raymond E. Butler, Alton G. Butler, James A. Jernigan, and Jack O. Jernigan of Suffolk, and Dewitt C. Jernigan of Springfield, Mass.: a sister Mrs. Evelyn Jernigan Bradshaw of Suffolk; and five grandchildren.
