All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ HOWARD HUNTER BEATON FRANKLIN - Howard Hunter Beaton, 52*, of 1608 Oleander Ave., Norfolk Highlands, died Tuesday in Raiford Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was the husband of Mrs. Mary Frances Raiford Beaton and the son of Mrs. Mary Hatfield Beaton of Southampton County. A native of Southampton County, he lived in Norfolk 25 years. He was a member of Campostella Baptist Church Doric Masonic Lodge 44; and the Khedive Temple of Norfolk. Besides his wife and mother he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Betty Beaton of Richmond; a son, Howard Hunter Beaton, Jr. of Richmond, and five sisters, Mrs. George Raiford of Victoria; Mrs. George Lindsey of Falls Church, Mrs. P.O. Duck, Jr., of Sedley, Mrs. Raleigh Powell of Washington and Mrs. Ralph Bartholomew of Portsmouth. A funeral service was conducted Friday at 2:30 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Paul Moore of Campostella Baptist Church. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin, with Masonic Rites. Active pallbearers were George Cabell, Doward Winslow, William Overton, Rodney Jackson, Ben Lingo, Oliver Newsome and Mr. Henley.
