Bowden Are Held At Antioch Funeral services for R.M. Bowden were held yesterday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock at Antioch Christian Church near Windsor. The services were conducted by the Rev. E.B. White and the Rev. J. Sidney Cobb. The church choir sang, "Rock of Ages," and a duet, "Beautiful Garden of Prayer" was sung by the Rev. Mr. Cobb and Mrs. W.R. Hall. Active pallbearers were C.L., T.E. and R.P. Britt, S.C. Councill, J.A. Joyner, R.E. Crocker, W.L. Clark and R.W. Cross. Interment was made in the church cemetery. ****************************************************************************** ISLE OF WIGHT Death claimed Mr. R.M. Bowden Monday afternoon after a prolonged illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Antioch Christian church at 3 o'clock. Burial was made in the church cemetery. Mr. Bowden was born in Southampton county near Tucker Swamp church. He has been a native of Isle of Wight county for several years. [sic] He is survived by his widow and four children, Mrs. Morgan Roberts of near Windsor, Mrs. Nellie Britt, of near Zuni, Mr. Oscar Bowden, of near Windsor and Miss Lula Bowden of Central Hill; five sisters, Mrs. Y.P. Britt, Mrs. Hurley Clark, Mrs. Tiny Britt, Mrs. Skeeter and Miss Myra Bowden, all of Zuni, and an aged mother of Zuni. ****************************************************************************** ROBERT MORGAN BOWDEN R.M. BOWDEN BURIED AT ANTIOCH CHURCHYARD Suffolk, June 29 - Funeral services for R.M. Bowden were held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Antioch Christian Church, conducted by the Rev. E.B. Bowden of Windsor, Va. He was 63 years, 11 months and 14 days old, and is survived by his wife and children; Mrs. Robert M. Bowden of Windsor and Mr. Oscar A. Bowden of Windsor, Va., and Mrs. R.A. Powell of Suffolk, Va., Mrs. M.M. Roberts of Windsor, Va., Mrs. J.L. Joyner of Suffolk, Va. and nine grandchildren, Viginia Powell, Ruffin Powell and Susie Maie Powell, George Powell, Melvin Powell, Emmie Lee Powell, Williams Edward Powell and Marjorie Lee Joyner, all of Suffolk, Va., and Charlie Letchen Bawden [sic] of Windsor, Va., and two sons, Charlie C. Bowden and Robert Thomas Bowden deceased. He leaves a mother, Mrs. M.L. Bowden, 86 years years old, of Zuni, Va. and six sisters, Mrs. Y.P. Britt, Miss Dora Bowden, Mrs. T.E. Britt, Mrs. J.L. Skeeter, Miss Myra Bowden, Mrs. J.H. Clark, all of Zuni, Va. and one half brother, Mr. D.J. Bowden of Norfolk, Va. He had two brothers, both dead, Mr. Richard Bowden, Mr. Tommie Bowden of Zuni, and one deceased sister, Mrs. R.W. Cross of Ivor, Va. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Antioch Christian Church, by Mr. White, the pastor, and Mr. Cobb had a part and the flowers were beautiful and the casket was covered. Active pallbearers were Mr. R.W. Cross, Mr. Rallie Crocker, Mr. Samuel Councill, Mr. John Joyner, Mr. Roger Britt, Mr. Claudie Britt, Mr. Tommie Britt, Mr. Wilber Clark. Burial was in the church cemetery.
