Ira D. Hudgins of Franklin Baptist Church and Dr. Thomas Powers of Park View Baptist Church. The family assembled at 405 Norfleet Street, Franklin. Pallbearers were Robert Warren, John Schafer, R.B. Arnold, Otto Harcum, Tony Cobb, Johnnie Panton and Lloyd Old. Butterton, 74, formerly of Portsmouth, died Saturday morning in a Portsmouth hospital. He was a native of Windsor, N.C. and moved to Franklin about a year ago. He was the husband of Mrs. Marion Cain Butterton and a son of James T. and Mrs. Lena Taylor Butterton. He was a member of Park View Baptist Church, Portsmouth. He retired from Schafer Security Service. Surviving, besides his wife, are a daughter, Mrs. W.F. Hart Jr. of Franklin, and two stepchildren, and two step-children, Mrs. Marion Lawrence Sellars of Mandeville, La. and Henry B. Lawrence of San Francisco; two brothers, W.R. Butterton of Rocky Mount, N.C. and G.T. Butterton of Trenton, N.J. and two grandchildren.
