Butterton, wife of J.C. Butterton, died suddenly at her home, 1049 A. Street Portsmouth, on Monday afternoon, March 8, at 4:30. In addition to her husband she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. W.F. Hart, Jr., of Franklin; a sister, Mrs. J.C. Jacobs of Lewiston, N.C.; two [...*] Victoria and Hugh Joyner of Garysburg, N.C. and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Park View Baptist Church, Portsmouth, with the Rev. Mr. Hammock, assisted by the Rev. R.D. Stephenson and Ira D. Hudgins of Franklin, officiating. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin. The body was taken to the W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home were held Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins of the Franklin Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in the Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were R.A. Pretlow, Jr., H. Leigh Pace, Freddie Williams, J.J. Finley, Jr., Roy Sexton, Hudson Conwell, George Watkins, and Frank Story Cutchin. Nannie Ola (JOYNER; Mrs. James C.)
