BEALE Aubrey Franklin Beale, 80, a native and lifelong resident of Southampton County, died at his home near Branchville at 11:15 o'clock Sunday night, October 24. The deceased, a retired farmer, was the son of the late Lawson and Mrs. Martha Holland Beale. He was twice married, his first wife being the former Miss Dora Waller. Following her death he married the former Miss Dixie Derby, who also preceded him in death. He was a charter member and an ordained deacon of the Branchville Baptist Church. Survivors are three daughters, Miss Amy Beale and Mrs. Thomas M. Grizzard, both of Branchville, and Mrs. Charles H. Turner of Suffolk; and two sons, Aubrey T. Beale and Lawson D. Beale, both of Branchville. Funeral services for Mr. Beale were conducted at the Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins, on Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock by Rev. R.D. Stephenson of Franklin, assisted by Rev. Thomas S. Caulkins, pastor of the Branchville Baptist Church, and Rev. William S. Ferguson, pastor of the Boykins Methodist Church. The Branchville and Hebron Baptist choirs, accompanied by Mrs. L.W. Grizzard, sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "When the Roll is Called up Yonder." Burial was in Beechwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were R.A. Bryant, Ray Bunn, George Derby, Jack Derby, B.C. Edwards, Dr. J.J. Grizzard, L.W. Grizzard, Clyde Merritt, Eddie Overby and M.E. Thomas.
