ALICE LEWIS BEALE Mrs. Alice Lewis Beale, 62, of Franklin, widow of James Chesley Beale, died in Raiford Memorial Hospital early Tuesday morning, December 21, after an illness of about a month. Mrs. Beale was a daughter of Robert Steele Lewis of Fargo, N.D. and the late Mrs. Alice Carpenter Lewis. She was a member of the Franklin Congregational Christian Church. In addition to her father she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Alice Beale Prange of Pleasanton, Tex., and Mrs. Nancy Beale Guin of Shreveport, La; four sons, Robert Irving Beale of Richmond and James Chesley Beale, Jr., Cyrus Lewis Beale and Warren Steele Beale, all of Franklin; five grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Olive Lewis Braisted of Fargo, N.D. Final rites were held in the chapel of W.J.M. Holland & Sons on Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock with Rev. Harvey L. Carnes, pastor of the Congregational Christian Church, and Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of the Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in the family plot in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were J. Vaughan Beale, Samuel Bradshaw, W.C. Coker, Richard Drewry, Dr. Darden W. Jones, James E. Jones, D.T. Prince and C.C. Vaughan, 3rd.
