BOYKINS - A graveside funeral service for Alexander E. Bell, Jr., 65, of Boykins, was conducted in Beechwood Cemetery, Friday, Oct. 13 at 10 a.m. by the Rev. William Hudson, pastor of the Boykins Methodist Church. Bell died Wednesday morning in a Norfolk hospital after a brief illness. A native of Norfolk, he was a son of Alexander E. and Mrs. Emma Belanga Bell, and the husband of the late Mrs. Elsie Gray Bell. He was retired from the Army Corps of Engineers where he worked as a civilian surveyor, working out Fort Norfolk. Surviving are a brother, Claude Bell of Virginia Beach, and two nieces, Mrs. Nora B. Franklin of Virginia Beach and Mrs. Mary Lacy Bingin of Bakersfield, Calif.
