All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ BENJAMIN HOWARD BEALE Benjamin Howard Beale, 81, a prominent farmer of the Branchville community, died early Wednesday morning at his home. Mr. Beale was born May 26, 1860, the son of the late Lawson Franklin Beale and Rhodie Harris Beale of Southampton County. Surviving him are his wife and the following children; four sons, Harvey Howard, Claudie Thomas, Rufus and Bennie Beale, all of Branchville; a daughter, Mrs. Leola Dalton of Richmond; a brother, Frank Beale, of Branchville; four grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. He was a member of Branchville Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at the residence Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock with his pastor, the Rev. L.F. Callahan officiating, assisted by the Rev. J. Felix Arnold. The combined choirs of the Branchville Baptist and Methodist churches sang and there was a large attendance. The casket was covered with a pall of lilies and roses. Pallbearers were R.D. Vick, E.W. Bryant, E.T. Story, H.T. Smith, Dr. J.J. Grizzard, Aubrey T. Woodward and L.O. Tyler. Friends of the family were honorary pallbearers.
