BEALE BURIED HERE TODAY Funeral services for Mrs. Belle Thornton Beale were conducted this morning (Thursday) at 11 o’clock at the Holland Funeral Chapel by the Rev. L.A. Hawks ----- at Farmville, and the Rev. Robert E. Davis, rector of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were G.E. Pillow, W.T. Pace, Jr., C.C. Vaughan, 3rd, Winder Lane, Jesse Weede, Jr., H.R. Bernstein, J. Edward Moyler, and W.B. Henshaw of Richmond. Mrs. Beale died Tuesday afternoon in a Richmond hospital after many months of illness. She was the widow of J.W. Beale and a daughter of William and Mrs. Indiana Cecil Briggs Thornton of Sussex County. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church here, where she served many years. Surviving are one son, Thornton Beale of Richmond; two grandchildren, Allen and Kevin Beale, and one stepson, William Beale, also of Richmond; one stepdaughter, Mrs. John O. Haslett, of Franklin, and nieces and nephews. Mary Belle (THORNTON; Mrs. Julius W.)
