All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ CARR BEALE Carr Beale, one of Franklin's oldest citizens, died at his home in First Avenue Monday night, March 4, after a several weeks' illness. He was 77 years old, and had been a resident of Franklin for about twenty years, moving here from Isle of Wight County, and had acquire considerable property. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. J.E. Lawrence of Holland, and Mrs. D.T. Prince of Franklin, the latter making her home with him. He also leaves a brother, Mr. Jas. I. Beale, Sr., of Franklin and a sister, Mrs. Carolyn Saunders of Nansemond County, besides four grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Beale was a member of Bethany Christian Church and of Franklin Lodge No. 151, A.F. & A.M., the impressive rites of that order being observed at his burial. The services were conducted at Poplar Springs Cemetery by Dr. C.H. Rowland of the Franklin Christian Church, assisted by Rev. B.F. Black of the Holland Christian Church and Rev. J.L. McCutcheon of the Franklin Baptist Church. The following Masons were pallbearers, General C.C. Vaughan, W.C. Watson, C.W. Gary, J.N. Bell, C.A. Bell, J.E. White, J.R. Howell and J.R. Knight.
