She was a member of the Branchville Baptist Church, in all the affairs of which she participated actively as long as her health permitted. A shut-in for 25 years, she belonged to a number of shut-in organizations, the "Sunshine Sisters Friendship Club," "The Open Window," "Along the Way," and "Cheerful Echoes;" and she continued her Christian work by keeping up her daily Bible reading and corresponding with people of all Christian faiths. One of her "pen pals" from Bridgeport, Ohio, attended her funeral. She loved all of her friends, the pastors who called to offer words of cheer, and the members of her family who were faithful and attentive to her during her long confinement to her home. She is survived by her husband; two daughters. Mrs. Virgie B. Grizzard of Branchville and Mrs. Mildred B. Turner of Norfolk; one son, Lawson D. Beale of Branchville; two stepchildren, Aubrey T. Beale and Amie M. Beale, also of Branchville; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Alma Hinds of Indianapolis, Ind. Stephenson of Franklin in the absence of her pastor, Rev. N.B. Habel. The choir of the Branchville Baptist Church sang "Safe In The Arms Of Jesus," "Good Night and Good Morning," and "Beautiful Isle Of Somewhere." The casket was covered with a pall of roses and calla lilies. The floral designs were many and beautiful. Burial was in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins.
