EVA KATE BRANCH BAILEY

   WAVERLY - A funeral service for Mrs. Eva Branch Bailey was conducted at 
2:30 p.m., Friday in Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, by the Rev. J.L. 
Blackwell, the Rev. James T. Mashburn and the Rev. William C. Peacock.  Burial 
was in the Ivor Cemetery.

   Pallbearers were James W. Bailey Jr., John Earl Bailey, Jr., Martin Bailey, 
Robert Lee Bailey, Robert D. Brown, Daniel L. Britt, Ronald C. Britt and 
Melton Cobb.

   Mrs. Bailey, 91, died in her home Wednesday morning.

   A native of Southampton County, she was a daughter of Lord Wellington and 
Mrs. Sarah Bowden Branch and the widow of John Robert Bailey.

   She was a member of Waverly Baptist Church.

   Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Clifton L. Britt of Waverly and Mrs. 
Skiddler Brown of Sedley; three sons, Branch A. Bailey and John E. Bailey of 
Ivor, and James W. Bailey of Newport News; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-
grandchildren.
