All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ EASON JULIAN BAILEY Eason Julian Bailey, 79, a resident of Drewryville for the past 11 years, died on Monday, April 20, after an illness of 16 months [...*] Ennas Bailey of Ireland and the late Susan Daughtrey of Franklin, and the husband of the late Rosa Atkins** Bailey, who preceded him in death 22 years ago. He was a member of the Drewryville Methodist Church. Surviving are three sons, B.E. Bailey of Petersburg, R.A. Bailey of Gaston, N.C. and C.E. Bailey of [...*]; five daughters, Mrs. Nellie Overby of Drewryville, with whom he had made his home for the past 14 years, Mrs. Virgie Ferguson of Newsoms, Mrs. Amanda Britt of Petersburg, Mrs. Edna Harrell of Poquoson, and Mrs. Jayne Mark of Fairbanks, Alaska; 35 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and one [...*]. Funeral services were held at the Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins, on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, with Rev. J.T. Cassell, pastor of the Drewryville Methodist Church, and Rev. H.B. Jennings, pastor of the Drewryville Baptist Church officiating. Mrs. H. M. Purviance sang "In the Garden" and "Sunrise." Interment was in the Newsoms Cemetery, the pallbearers being Benjamin Bailey, William Bailey, [...*], Claiborne [...*], Jimmy Britt, Idan Core, R.H. Ferguson and William Ferguson. *"The Tidewater News" was storied in the attic of the TN building for years before the LVA copied them. There is a line running through the print at the top and middle of many of the papers and it effected many of the obits. I've put elipses for the part that's missing. If it's obvious what's said, I've tried to fill it in.
