EVA OVERBY BEALE

   Funeral services for Mrs. Eva Overby Beale, 53, of Branchville were 
conducted Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in the Branchville Baptist Church by the 
pastor, Rev. Thomas Caulkins, assisted by Rev. William Ferguson, pastor 
of the Branchville Methodist Church. 

   Mrs. Beale, the wife of Rufus Beale of Branchville, died early Sunday 
morning, February 17, at her home after a long illness. 

   A native of Southampton County, she was the daughter of Mrs. Nellie B. 
Overby of Branchville, and the late Robert C. Overby.  She was a member 
of the Branchville Baptist Church. 

   In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by two 
daughters, Mrs. Charles C. Sexton of Jarratt and Mrs. John C. Jones of 
Memphis, Tenn; eight brothers, Collis Overby, Alton Overby and Herman 
Overby of Branchville, Rudolph Overby of Boykins, Russell Overby of 
Courtland, Larry Overby of Hunterdale and Linwood Overby and Clinton 
Overby of Ahoskie, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Owen Kitchen of Drewryville, 
and Mrs. Clay Beasley of Branchville, and a number of nieces and nephews. 

   Burial was in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins.  Active pallbearers were 
Thomas Grizzard, Linton Grizzard, B.C. Edwards, Stuart Jenkins, J.V. 
Beale and J.T. Davis.  The Fidelis Bible Class and the ladies of the 
Adult Bible Class were honorary pallbearers.
