Beale died Tuesday night at the home of her son, Ernest L. Beale, in High Street after an illness of some weeks. Mrs. Beale was a daughter of the late John and Mrs. Frances Beale of this county, and widow of Milton L. Beale who died many years ago. She was in her 74th year. A quiet, home-loving and unostentatious Christian woman, she had made many friends with all who knew her, and was generally loved and esteemed for her splendid traits of character. Besides her son, Ernest L. Beale, with whom she made her home, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Joseph H. Saunders of Newport News and Mrs. C.M. Waff of Charlottesville, and by ten grandchildren. She was a consistent member of the Franklin Christian Church, funeral rites being conducted yesterday (Thursday) afternoon from the residence by her Pastor, Dr. Elwood W. Jones, assisted by Dr. C.H. Rowland of Greensboro, N.C., a former pastor. Burial was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery, the pallbearers being six grandsons, Vaughan, Ernest, Jr., and Jack Beale, Charles and Milton Waff of Charlottesville and Robert Saunders of Newport News, and her two sons-in-law, Jos.
