He was 68. Mr. Beale was a Southampton County native, retired from the Virginia Department of Highways. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Vincent Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Marie Bryan Beale; a daughter, Hilda B. Maggard of Portsmouth; a son, J. Thurman Beale of Roanoke; two sisters, Marie B. Turner of Drewryville and Martha B. Netto of Boykins; and two grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Saturday in McDowell Funeral Home, Boykins by the Rev. Glenn Langston. Burial was in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins.
