AND MRS. F.P. BEALE Seldom has our county witnessed a more tragic visitation upon any home that in the death of Mr. and Mrs. Fenton P. Beale of Baffle on Saturday night, October 5, husband and wife passing away within one hour's time. The deaths of both were caused by pneumonia, super induced by Spanish influenza and their illnesses were of only a few days duration. They leave a little daughter, Katherine Thomas Beale, age two years, who is critically ill with pneumonia at this time. Fenton Parker Beale was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Beale of Franklin and was a young man of excellent character and a useful citizen of the Black Creek community. He was a consistent member of Black Creek Baptist Church, a merchant and postmaster at Baffle and had made many friends by his sterling qualities as an upright business man and generous neighbor. He was in his twenty-ninth year and besides his young daughter is survived by his parents; by one sister, Mrs. Bernice Beale Herrin, and by two brothers, Leland Beale of this community and Raby Beale, U.S.N. The interment was made in Poplar Spring cemetery, Franklin, Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock by Rev. J.L. McCutcheon of the Franklin Baptist church, his funeral and that of his beloved wife being conducted at the same time and place. The active pallbearers were Leland Beale, Raby Beale, H.P. Saunders, W.J. Cross, Joseph Cross and J.C. Eley; honorary, S.E. Saunders, D.A. Holland, E.J. Raiford, J.G. Herrin, J.C. Beale, C.J. Cutchins, Jno. R. Councill. Mrs. Della Beale was the daughter of the late David Bradshaw and was an attractive and gracious young woman, a faithful wife and mother, a zealous and useful church worker, a member of the Ivor Baptist Church and a generous and self-sacrificing neighbor in her community. She was in her twenty-seventh year and with her husband was just beginning what promised to be a long and useful life in their pretty country home at Baffle. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. L.C. Pulley and Mrs. A.B. Clayton of Ivor and by one brother, August Bradshaw of New Orleans. Her funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.L. McCutcheon in Poplar Spring cemetery and she was laid to rest by the side of her husband as the loved ones and friends of husband and wife found consolation over the double graves in the all-wise providences of God who doeth all things well, even those things which are beyond human comprehension and which blind us for the time being with questioning tears as we strive to look beyond the veil of finite understanding.
