Mrs. Bailey, a native of Sussex County, attended Farmville State Teacher’s College and taught in Sedley for several years. She was a member of Grace Memorial United Methodist Church; a charter member of Sedley Woman’s Club; and a past worthy matron of the Southampton Chapter 68, Order of the Eastern Star. She was the widow of Linwood Bradshaw. Survivors include her husband, John A. Bailey Sr.; a daughter, Edith D. Tinkham of Richmond; two stepdaughters, Betty Gambill of Harrisonburg and Nancy Cogsdale of Sedley; a stepson, John A. Bailey, Jr. of Lebanon, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren. The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Rosemont Cemetery by the Rev. Weldon White. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, is handling arrangements.
