JOSEPHINE FRANCES COBB BEALE

   Mrs. Josephine Cobb Beale, 79, died Wednesday night in a hospital after a 
long illness.

   She was the widow of Roger Irving Beale and a daughter of Dr. Richard H. 
and Mrs. Antoinette Holland Cobb.

   She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and a charter member of Agnes 
Lee Chapter of United Daughters of the Confederacy.

   She attended Franklin Female Seminary and Virginia College, Roanoke.

   Surviving are a son, Roger I. Beale, Jr. of Franklin; two sisters, Mrs. 
W.W. Miller of Johnson City, Tenn., and Mrs. R.J. Howell of Franklin; and 
five grandchildren.

   A funeral service was conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland and 
Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins of Franklin Baptist Church. 
Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery.

   Pallbearers were Robert Beale, James Beale, W.W. Miller, Jr., Dr. J.P. 
Broaddus, L. Winder Lane, Thomas Britt, Walter Norfleet, Dr. Walter D. Hankins.
