BEALE BURIED TODAY John Etheldred Beale, 65, Franklin businessman, died in a local hospital early Tuesday after a short illness. He was the husband of Mrs. Martha McLane Beale and a son of James (Boge) and Mrs. Mary Willis Beale of Southampton County. He was a member of Franklin Baptist church, its Men’s Burner Class, Pythians, and Woodmen of the World. Surviving, besides his wife, are three sons, John E. Beale, Jr., Lloyd McLane Beale, and James Robert Beale, all of Franklin; one daughter, Mrs. Wallace Harrison of Franklin; eight grandchildren; one brother, Williard Beale of Franklin, and three sisters, Mrs. Paul Rose of Franklin, Mrs. J.C. Bristow of Norfolk and Mrs. W.T. Powell of Lawrence. A funeral service was held at the church today (Thursday) at 2:30 p.m. by his pastor, the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, and the Rev. Carr Lee Ousley, pastor of Holland Baptist Church. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were L. Britt Holland, Ryland Brooks, Ashby Rawls, F.F. Powell, G.C. Duck, John L. Eley, Jr., Harry Jones, and Willie Burrow.
