Beale, a native of Franklin and a 1956 graduate of Franklin High School, was to have completed his second tour in Vietnam this June. He served his first combat tour from August 1965 - August 1966. His present tour began June 1968. Beale was serving with the Army’s 386th Aviation Support Detachment, First Aviation Brigade. The sergeant’s widow Barbara, resides near Black Creek with their son Kenneth Wayne. Beale’s mother, Mrs. Margaret Beale Alexander lives in San Diego, Calif. His father is the late Mills Beale Sr. of Franklin. A brother, Irvin D. Beale, now makes his home in Franklin. Beale was employed at Thornton Livesay Furniture Co. before making a career of the service. He had been in the Army nearly 9½ years. Funeral arrangements were incomplete Friday. ****************************************************************************** SGT. 1/C MILLS BEALE III A funeral service for Army Sgt. 1/C Mills Beale III, who was killed in Vietnam May 11 was conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland & Son Funeral Home by the Rev. C.L. Gatling and the Rev. David Beale. Burial with full military honors was in Southampton Memorial Park with military escorts. A native of Franklin and a 1956 graduate of Franklin High School, he was to have completed his second tour in Vietnam in June. He served his first combat tour from August 1965 - August 1966.
